LulzSec hacks The Sun, plants story Rupert Murdoch died

Rupert Murdoch has not had a good week. After his newspapers controversially attempted to get phone records and other data on 9/11 victims, LulzSec struck again, hacking Murdoch’s tabloid The Sun and planted a fake story that the publisher had died overnight at age 80. This comes after the hacker group stated they had disbanded - perhaps the situation was too juicy for them to pass up.

The false story claimed Murdoch had died of “palladium ingestion,” and as usual with a typical hacking attack, the article had reams of grammatical and spelling errors. It didn’t take long for The Sun’s admins to figure that the newspaper had been hacked, with the story being quickly taken down. This wasn’t before LulzSec redirectrf The Sun’s traffic to Lulzsec’s Twitter feed. This caused News International’s web admins to take down all of its newspaper sites to prevent more hacking.

LulzSec’s twitter page features such nuggets as “TheSun.co.uk now redirects to our twitter feed. Hello, everyone that wanted to visit The Sun! How is your day? Good? Good!” and “We are battling with The Sun admins right now - I think they are losing”. Lulzsec now promises that this latest hack attack is “just the beginning”, again giving lie to their “disbanding”.
