It took their experts until Monday to notice the leaks. The EU PlayStation.Blog confirms there’s no Store update this week due to ”ongoing work to bring PSN back”.
Many have been complaining about Sony’s lack of communication with consumers, including UK group Gamers’ Voice and a US Senator, but apparently Sony wasn’t in the know either. Credit card details are among the stolen personal data from PSN.
”There’s a difference in timing between when we identified there was an intrusion and when we learned of consumers’ data being compromised,” posted Sony’s Patrick Seybold.
”We learned there was an intrusion April 19th and subsequently shut the services down. We then brought in outside experts to help us learn how the intrusion occurred and to conduct an investigation to determine the nature and scope of the incident.”
”It was necessary to conduct several days of forensic analysis, and it took our experts until yesterday to understand the scope of the breach. We then shared that information with our consumers and announced it publicly this afternoon.”
Obviously PlayStation Store updates are a no-go this week.
”Due to ongoing work to bring PSN back online there will be no publish this week for PS Store or PS Home,” posted EU PlayStation.Blog. ”We will resume when PSN is online.”
