Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu reports that Square-Enix will allow players to fight popular Final Fantasy character Lightning in the Coliseum Arena in Final Fantasy XIII-2. Defeating her will allow players to have her in their party, just as defeating Omega and other classic Final Fantasy bosses will as well.
However, the magazine states that Square-Enix will be releasing numerous downloadable content specifically tied into her, called “Secret Story Episodes”.
The publisher also has much more planned for Final Fantasy XIII-2 than just DLC. The company hopes to include fellow adventurer Sazh and his son, as well as the Chocolina character, in novels and other multimedia, in addition to downloadable content.
Final Fantasy XIII-2, which is already available in Japan, will be released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, hitting North America on the 31st January, with the European release following on the 3rd February.
