Yesterday it was announced that Lawbreakers would not be free-to-play, and will be a Steam exclusive. Developer Cliff Bleszinski revealed why the game will have a retail price: there will be no microtransactions.
The developer noted at Game Developers Conference that gamers were getting frustrated by what they considered a “pay-to-win” model adopted by most free-to-play games. “We listened to feedback online about the community’s concerns with F2P, from pay-to-win mechanics, rampart cheating and more…and we’re not going to do that,” he explained. ”The best solution is to not have any F2P mechanics whatsoever.”
He added the game would not be $60, but he also did not have a set price for the game either. ”As far as cost, we will announce more on the price point in the near future.”
Lawbreakers is a multiplayer shooter that promises to have ”unparalleled vertical violence” thanks to ”variable gravity effects, unique role based movement systems and gravity manipulating abilities, making combat truly three dimensional.” It’s due to be released this coming Summer 2016.
