Who said PC gaming was dead? Ok, sure, that's an old line at his point; but for some, they still honestly think that. With the latest console generation being on the most expensive the enter, it hasn't stopped the blocks from selling at a rapid pace. But even so, the PC has pushed ahead to take its place as the second strongest market of the year. Sitting at a total worth of around $35.8bn (that's billion!) between January and November, PC gaming as a whole has overtaken the console market as the go-to platform. But there's a few reasons as to why it couldn't really go any other way this year.
Turbine Studios might be choosing the wrong time to ditch PC in favor of mobile. Why not have both?
Through no surprise, much of the market's increase was also praised on the performance of a certain MOBA. That's right - League of Legends. The game continues to be the biggest online title in the Western market with the hugely successful launch of Overwatch gaining an honorable mention alongside Riot Games' juggernaut. But we're second place. Can you guess what came first? It is, of course, mobile. Whether Pokemon GO pulled it ahead, or the drive of Clash of Clans and its many offshoots secured the crown long ago is anyone's guess. But that's one market that isn't slowing down anytime soon.
