Just one short month after gifting their server code to Elysium to bring the hopes and dreams of a private, vanilla, World of Warcraft server to fruition, the Nostalrius team is hoping the group will relinquish their generous gift. Heading back to their own message boards on January 14, Viper, a Nostalrium representative, explained the thought process behind the original plan to re-introduce a third-party legacy server that wasn't 100% tied to their own tarnished name following Blizzard's decision to essensially pretend their meeting with the team never happened.
World of Warcraft Patch 7.15 Has Arrived - But What Does It Offer?
With strong lines like "We know that Nostalrius carries the hopes of the legacy community" and "Until this stigma [pirate server] is removed, it's unlikely any true progress towards official legacy content can be achieved.", some members of the community now suspect Nostalrius to be hand-in-hand with Blizzard themselves and calling out the group for essentially holding player data hostage. It's a long drawn-out battle in the hopes Blizzard will introduce something they've long rejected. Potentially only ever inviting the Nostalrius team to their headquarters as a PR stunt, we likely won't see anything good come of his fight for some time - if at all.
