The anti-cheat update that was meant to be arriving for Player's Unknown Battlegrounds this week has been delayed, as was confirmed by PUBG Corporation in a statement sent out to users across its social channels.

Unfortunately an “unexpected issue occurred” while testing out the anti-cheat patch, which means the release will be held back until a later date. The developers did mention that it will be coming soon. "PC players, the patch for the anti-cheat update has been delayed, as an unexpected issue has occurred while testing its compatibility. We will soon update you when it will be released. Thank you for your understanding."

As expected, PUBG Corp takes online cheating quite seriously. No one worth a damn likes a cheater, and the last thing you want to see on a multiplayer competitive online game is someone making up for lack of skill with the aid of software crutches. According to a statement released today, the team behind PUBG has established a dedicated team "to focus on combating cheat programs", something they have been committed to since the early access launch. As part of this effort, they have developed a new internal anti-cheat solution that will complement the systems that have been developed and implemented already.

This new system is currently being trialed on the test servers, and will be introduced on live servers next week. It aims to block unauthorized programs that alter graphics, aid in gameplay, and overall hook into PUBG and transform the game files. Programs that are not used to gain an unfair advantage can also be blocked if they behave like cheats. The statement also offered a look into other measures currently in effect, including:

• In-game Report Function: "We are gradually upgrading our in-game reporting features to effectively review your reports and accurately verify cheat activities. An internal system is being built as well to allow us to investigate reported content faster and more accurately. If you encounter a player you suspect of cheating, please use the report function. Please do bear in mind that when watching a replay, sometimes the replay footage and the actual gameplay may differ due to some bugs or network issues."
• File Modification: "If you tamper with the game files, your game access may be blocked, especially if you delete, modify or manipulate in any way the files affecting any of the game systems and mechanics."
• Account Sharing: "We have an announcement for those of you using family sharing on Steam. We had allowed this feature so that the account holders who own PUBG can use their character with other Steam accounts if they wanted to. However, we have decided to deactivate this feature because we have identified a number of vulnerabilities that are being exploited. Please understand that we are introducing this measure to fight abuse and ensure a fair environment."

Keep in mind that due to the very nature of cheats, anti-cheats nets may accidentally flag innocent users or fair programs, but PUBG assures its players that it will do its best to mitigate and remedy the situation where necessary. The plan is to constantly upgrade the anti-cheat solution after the first implementation next week, in order to keep up with the new underhanded yellow-belly ways to cheat in a game that keep popping up.
