Planet Zoo 2 developer Frontier Developments and Disney are teaming up for a new video game in the creative management simulation (CMS) genre.
The announcement came today, September 3, through an official press release from Frontier that confirmed the Cambridge-based developer has entered into an agreement with Disney. The project is being fully funded by Frontier “and will build upon the company’s extensive experience and proven capabilities” as leader in the management sim space. This marks another major collaboration following the tremendous success of three Jurassic World Evolution games made alongside Universal.
“We are delighted to announce this collaboration with Disney, which further reinforces our clearly defined strategy of developing and nurturing world-class creative management simulation game franchises,” said Jo Cooke, CEO of Frontier Developments. “Our mission with this game is to connect a passionate creative community of players with one of the world’s most iconic and beloved brands, and I can’t wait to see what our talented teams will create with this amazing opportunity.”
Obviously, the nature of this all-new creative management simulation game is unknown at this stage, but the confirmation of the specific genre alone should be enough the theorise it could be a Disney Parks sim of sorts.
As Planet Zoo 2 readies for an October launch, the company is also currently developing “an unannounced Planet game” with no direct ties to previous ones.
