US District Court Judge David Campbell ruled back in July that bot did in fact breach the terms of license players must agree to in order to play World of Warcraft.
MMOGlider, as it is now known, is thought to have shifted more than 100,000 copies at $25 a time. It helped automate many of the more laborious tasks like grinding.
While $6 million may seem a rather large pile of cash to the average gamer, experts have noted that actually it's a rather pithy sum compared to what Blizzard could have got from MDY.
However the deal could be delayed if Blizz decides to appeal against the ruling to extract more of a settlement, especially as their claim to double or triple the payout was rejected. MDY had apparently won some of the arguments brought against them in court.
The proceedings are set to continue in January 2009 to resolve whether MDY founder Michael Donnelly may have to pay out of his own pocket, and if MDY violated the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
