Cliff Bleszinski of Epic Games has said he loves Metal Gear Solid 4 and the cut scenes ”are phenomenal.” He goes on to praise series creator Hideo Kojima.
Talking about the Tokyo-based dev team, CliffyB said they’re ”the best at what they do”. It was revealed that some MGS4 cut scenes would push over 90 minutes.
”The kind of scenes they do in MGS4 are phenomenal. I think it has the best sound and real-time I’ve seen in the industry and since they’re the best at what they do, players love it,” said Bleszinski, in an interview with CVG.
”It’s the hallmark of the series - the camera angles and dramatic scenes and it’s really taking film-making to this new digital level,” he continued, though admits as a gamer he does prefer shorter interludes from gameplay.
”In the kind of games we do, the cut scenes are around three to four minutes on average. It just says what needs to be said and moves on to letting you actually play the game.”
Once it was leaked that some cut scenes would go over 90 minutes Konami made every attempt to down play the information. Well despite the movie long breaks from gameplay Metal Gear Solid 4 has been a tremendous success for Kojima and Sony.
