GamePolitics is reporting on a lawsuit filed against Sony Computer Entertainment of America, and Sony Game Designer David Jaffe. The suit alleges a copyright infringement involving God of War and is filed by Jonathan Bissoon-Dath and Jennifer Barrette-Herzog. The court documents list seven pages of specific similarities between works of fiction they produced including a screenplay and supporting elements for the work all produced by Bissoon-Dath and Barrette-Herzog and the published game God of War.
SCEA and Jaffe have both filled responses with the Court declaring their innocence of the allegations. The defendants response’s both point out that much of the content of both work’s lies in the public domain. Obviously this is a reference to the underlying world of Greek mythology behind both products.
The plaintiffs are requesting damages as a result of the alleged infringement while the defendants request that they be absolved of the allegations and reimbursed for the costs of defending themselves.
