Legendary Pictures have hopped onboard to co-finance and co-produce the upcoming adaption of Epic Games’ Gear of War with New Line cinema.
The movie is expected to land summer 2010 with Epic’s own ‘Cliffy B’ as a creative go-between to help the flick stay true to the Gears of War universe.
So far Die Hard 4.0 director Len Wiseman and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift screenwriter Chris Morgan is confirmed as attached. Morgan is reworking a draft of the script penned by Stuart Beattie.
There have been no leaks or even hints as to the cast yet which probably means those decisions haven’t been made.
This is the second videogame adaption Legendary have signed themselves up to, they’re already working to bring Blizzard’s World of Warcraft to the silver screen - hopefully with a few less n00bs and gold farmers spamming the screen.
”Legendary’s appetite for the synthesis of gaming, film and pop culture meshes perfectly with our own,” proclaimed Epic’s Mark Rein. Let’s see if the fans agree.
