The accountants over at Sony must have one heck of a prescription bill at the end of the month but at least the games division won’t be giving them such a headache.
Revenue has managed to creep over 10% from last year but losses are still likely to sting for a while. PS3s shifting off the shelf into gamers hands has helped big time.
July, August, September - a loss of JPY 39.5 billion for Sony’s game division but that’s much better than last year’s JPY 96.7 billion loss. Ouch.
The good news is that revenue went from JPY 243.4 billion in ‘07 to JPY 268.5 billion this year. Thankfully for Sony gamers have been waking up and buying PS3 hardware which has shifted over two million units these last three months.
It’s not unreasonable to assume that the PS3 will soon overtake PS2 hardware sales, finally.
