Animated film ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs’ won’t be videogame-less now as Ubi unveils their partnership with Columbia and Sony Pictures.
Sony Pictures’ exec Mark Caplan says Ubisoft ”understands how to translate” films into videogames. Their joint aim to is ”extend the film experience” of this oddly named flick.
The movie is inspired by the children’s novel, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is about a town where food rains from the sky.
”Our past projects together have shown that Ubisoft understands how to translate the artistry and storytelling of Sony Pictures Animation’s films to the world of video games,” said Mark Caplan, bossman at Sony Pictures.
”Our teams are already working together to create a fun and engaging interactive game that will extend the film experience.” Previously Ubisoft has worked with Sony Pictures on Open Season and Surf’s Up. The game is scheduled for release around the films premiere this year, and it’s heading to handheld and consoles.
