Three big name hitters this year have been pushed by back by EA in a bid to brighten up their next fiscal year’s forecast, given the gloom of the current one.
The Sims 3 was set for February 20th but is now releasing June 2nd. The Godfather II was expected for a sit down this February 24th, but no longer, and Dragon Age heads to Q4.
What lunacy is this I hear you scream at the monitor, whilst giving serious contemplation to kick the neighbour’s cat? Well EA’s captain of the helm John Riccitiello explains…
The Sims 3: ”We see this as being one of the most important launches in our company’s history, and certainly in the upcoming fiscal year.” Apparently the guys in marketing want more time to shore up the propaganda, and help it become more innovative.
The Godfather II: This delay is to help the game perform better and not take hits from the last wave of titles going through their discount pricing phase at retail.
Dragon Age: ”Too much quality can make you reassess your options.” Yes that’s right, the game is too good to release any time before all the platform versions are ready to go.
BioWare’s RPG was to unveil on PC first but EA are likely scared a little of the impending DRM they plan to use ticking off gamers, oh and piracy I guess. To butter us up though he said Dragon Ages delay would allow for more polish from BioWare, which is always a plus.
Ultimately it all feels like a kick in the crotch before being handed our favourite ice cream with chocolate sprinkles on - or is that just me?
