Shadow of the Colossus creator Fumito Ueda has revealed the giant weird bird thing in Last Guardian is actually a cateagle, an "important" one at that.
Giving players just a giant dog or cat wouldn't form enough of a bond explains Ueda-san, they needed a creature that wasn't "too balanced." A boy and his cateagle - now there's a tale.
Gamers take the role of the boy as they work with the giant creature to solve puzzles and fight off intruders. Each has weaknesses that are compensated by the other.
"It's important that it be a strange creature," Ueda-san explained, reports . "We made sure and not make it too balanced." The game director revealed he kept not only cats and dogs as a child but also ducks and monkeys - yeah, we could have had a catduck so be grateful.
Specifics on gameplay are being kept very secretive right now, though Team ICO are hard making sure the physics in the game are close to real which is a departure from their previous works.
