Activision announced today that a new Tony Hawk game is set for release in the second half of 2009.
Still without an official name, the title aims to ”broaden the appeal” of a franchise that has slowly began to falter, eventually being leapfrogged by the excellence of EA’s Skate series.
Activision publishing boss Mike Griffith announced, ”We said we would reinvent this franchise from the ground up and we have developed a very innovative and interactive approach for Tony. This should allow us to broaden the appeal of skateboarding beyond the core to mass market audiences and take advantage of this cycle’s dynamics.”
With all gameplay details kept secret for now, Activision are sure to drizzle information through during the course of the year.
