The two latest additions to the champion roster of Riot Games’ League of Legends are Rammus the Armordillo and Anivia the Cryophoenix, a tank and caster respectively.
For closed beta testers an ”exclusive champion skin” will be rewarded for Rammus, as he was one of the ”top vote getters” apparently. Riot have dished the bios and released some art.
What the heck is a ‘League of Legends’ you say? Well, it’s a ”new age of competitive online gaming. Take your place as a powerful Summoner, calling forth and controlling brave Champions in battle,” blurbs the official site.
The game is inspired from Warcraft III’s mod Dawn of the Ancients (DoTA). Lesser soldiers on the battlefield aren’t directly controlled by the player or summoner in this case, only the champions are. Another game to recently take up this approach is Demigod.
”Rammus is a tough nut to crack on the field of battle. His spiked shell not only protects him, it causes damage to those that attack him. His wicked sense of humor gives him the ability to taunt his foes into recklessly attacking him, putting them at a defensive disadvantage.”
”Anivia is an immortal being of intense power. She can instantly freeze a path in front of her, covering all in its wake with thick frost – she can even force the cold to violently explode, throwing razor sharp ice shards in every direction,” says team Riot.
League of Legends is being released exclusively on PC this September, see the teaser below.
