Famitsu magazine has revealed that "the greatest “_____” game, ever" boast from Tecmo points to a remake of Ninja Gaiden II.
This new version will only be available for PS3 but it's still being handled by developers Team Ninja, but without the former Ninja Gaiden II designer Tomonobu Itagaki at the helm.
Yosuke Hayashi led the development of the first Ninja Gaiden Sigma game and will do so again here, and once more the remake is of an Itagaki designed game.
Itagaki himself has much distain for the Ninja Gaiden Sigma release, and he's not shy about voicing his opinion. "All you need to do is play Ninja Gaiden II and then try and play Sigma afterwards and you'll see why," he said.
"Despite the fact that it's on a 'next-generation' console there's no evolution whatsoever. That was made not by me, but one of my sub-ordinates who basically tried to copy the success of Ninja Gaiden." Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is about half way done according to Famitsu, reports Kotaku.
Can this be "the greatest" Ninja Gaiden, ever? In any case the unveiling in San Francisco is much less mystical now.
