Disaster has struck for both EA and anti-DRM advocates as pirates, not the loveable swashbuckling kind, have half-inched The Sims 3.
The latest instalment was promised to have no DRM at all, only a standard disc check. Naturally the illegal community have gone nuts with glee over their latest haul of swag.
The issue at hand is will this reverse EA’s new direction on DRM, i.e. abolishing it, and make executives nervous enough to knee-jerk them back in? Here’s hoping The Sims 3 sells tons of copies or its online activations again most likely.
The Sims 3 officially releases on June 2nd in the US and on the 5th in Europe - this leak could prove a hard blow for EA.
