We see you Microsoft, did you think another patent could slip by the Internets? Speculation is catching momentum that this ‘343’ actually refers to a Halo character.
Specifically ‘343 Guilty Spark’, which has led some to believe that this ‘343 Industries’ is the name given to Microsoft’s new internal Halo development team. Microsoft: ”nothing” to say.
The patent was spotted by superannuation, with ‘343 Industries’ linked to ”computer programs, namely, game software for use on computers and video.” There’s no more information.
”The name “343 Industries” also sounds less like a game and more like a label–a label that would be perfectly apt for the internal division of Microsoft Game Studios dedicated to the Halo franchise,” speculates GameSpot.
Bungie Studios, now independent from Microsoft Game Studios, is continuing developments within the Halo universe with work on Halo 3: ODST and next year’s Halo: Reach. Is there something to the name ‘343’, or just pundits looking a little to close?
Official Microsoft line: ”We have nothing to announce at this time.”
