Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling has confirmed that Modern Warfare 2 does feature an optional third-person view, but this isn’t something ”you can toggle on and off” willingly.
In fact the third-person mode can only be activated for private online matches, and it can’t be switched mid-match. If turned on then everyone will be limited to the viewpoint.
”It’s not something you can toggle on and off in ANY game,” Bowling told Joystiq. The mode can only be switched on or off in private matches, much like the ‘Hardcore’ settings, or through special playlists. Once it’s on and the match plays it can’t be a personal choice, it’s forced.
”This is just another cool way to play the game,” he said, ”you obviously will still have the option to play gametypes normal as well.” A leaked clip hit the Internet, which is why Bowling says he advised a media blackout for fans looking for a spoiler-free launch.
”Yes there’s a leaked video. Yes it confirms a new Playlist type in #MW2 & yes it’s why I recommend a media blackout,” twittered Bowling. Will you be trying out third-person?
