Currently the new title update is only available for Xbox 360 because the PS3 version is still going through tests with PlayStation Network. The patch addresses ”common requests”.
Most notably it adds the ‘Rock Band Network Audition Mode’, which lets users try out their uploaded songs from the PC. In ”coming weeks” the Rock Band Network starts an open beta.
”On behalf of both the Rock Band 2 and Rock Band Network teams, I’m proud to be able to announce that we’ve finalized a software update for Rock Band 2 that addresses some common requests and adds some great new functionality!” posted developer Harmonix.
”Available from the “Extras” menu on Xbox 360 versions of Rock Band 2, members of the Rock Band Network can now upload songs from their PC’s and audition their songs using our suite of song audition and testing tools.”
”Currently in closed beta, the Rock Band Network will welcome authors to open beta in the coming weeks!” To find out more visit http://creators.rockband.com.
Also added in the title update is support for the wireless Xbox 360 microphones, a new sort option for songs and background downloading for new tracks you get off RB Music Store. The patch for the PS3 version of Rock Band is currently in the certification process.
