Developer Fumito Ueda has said how he believed ICO and Shadow of the Colossus were meant solely for the PlayStation 2 and that they ”should stay there”. Now he’s interested in PS3.
The upcoming God of War Collection, bringing the original two titles to PS3, looks to be a fan favourite. Ueda-san says it ”would be nice” to get them to ”reach more users.” For PS3 then?
”Initially, I didn’t want to consider that,” Ueda-San told 1UP, referring to his own God of War-like Collection release. ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are cult classic hits on PS2.
”I always thought they were designed for PS2 and should stay there. But lately, I’ve been thinking it would be nice to provide the games to other platforms to reach more users.”
Such a decision rests not with Fumito Ueda and his fellows, but with big time Sony executives. The God of War Collection is meant as a way to promote the upcoming God of War III, so fans would need to be very vocal in wanting some high def ICO on PS3.
Would you slap down your hard earned wedge for some ICO and Shadow of the Colossus on PlayStation 3, or should they remain where they belong on PS2?
