Microsoft and Bungie aren’t super best friends anymore, but they’re still chums enough that team Bungie are making Halo 3: ODST this year and Halo: Reach for next.
Rumours have been circulating that Randy Pitchford and his Gearbox studio will be taking up the banner for a possible Halo 4. ”Haha!” was Pitchford’s response to ‘curveball’ questioning.
”Well, I’ll tell you, there’s a couple of games that Gearbox has announced. We’ve announced borderlands, and we’ve announced Aliens Colonial Marines with SEGA and Fox, and it’s no secret that we have some other things in development,” Pitchford told EGTV.
Then came the question, is one of those Halo 4? ”Haha! We’re not going to talk about anything…” At this moment a PR guy practically had a seizure to get out: ”We can’t talk about that.”
As for how the rest of the short chit-chat went after that?
Eurogamer: That’s not a no, though.
Pitchford: I appreciate why you’re asking.
Eurogamer: That’s not a no.
Pitchford: Haha! You got any other curveballs for me?
Eurogamer: I don’t think it was much of a curveball. It’s quite a straight question…
Pitchford: It is a straight question, and it is fair. But you understand my… [recording terminated].
Gearbox has experience in the Halo universe as they helped both Microsoft and Bungie bring the original game to PC gamers. Right now though team Gearbox likely have their PR hands full with Borderlands and Aliens Colonial Marines for SEGA.
A good choice, if true, to take over the reins from Bungie?
