A recent job posting for BioWare Montreal was looking for a 'Multiplayer Programmer' with the Mass Effect franchise attached, with co-op lingo?
The listing on LinkedIn has since been removed but CinemaBlend was able to take notes. Stuff like it's the multiplayer programmers role to "work with both the front and back ends to take existing single player user experiences and make them multiplayer safe."
That sounds an awful lot like a co-op mode to us. It does sound like a more typical multiplayer environment is in the works too as it also mentions them being responsible for "solutions to deal with network latency, de-synchronization of data between networked machines/players, packet compression, cheating, and interrupted connections."
Plus they have to "work with databases that allow for chat rooms, client/server games, player matching, player stats, etc." Mass Effect 3 is said to be the end of Commander Shepard's tale of dealing with the Reapers - but not the end of the Mass Effect universe.
“Sure, we would consider it. We haven’t announced anything on that front yet, but those are interesting ideas. They could make a great gameplay experience. Whether we’ll do them or not remains to be decided," said BioWare boss Ray Muzyka back in November.
Are you looking forward to Mass Effect 3? BioWare say that until it arrives more DLC is going to be released that bridges the gap between ME2 and the next instalment.
