Sony has revealed that the ”minor update” that is PlayStation 3 firmware 3.55 is adding only a ”security patch.” There’s nothing fancy about it at all - sorry.
No cross-game voice chat or PlayStation Move controllers that can now shoot lasers - just a boring, stuffy old security patch. It’s probably to deal with ‘those.’
You know who ‘those’ are right? Hackers, the people who went and pried open the PS3 a bit with their fancy pants USB debug trickery. Sony has been at war with them ever since these ‘tools’ got marketed and starting flogging their pro-piracy ways.
Firmware 3.55 is mandatory so you’ll need to system update when you can.
