An anonymous US firm bought MyWorld from RTW insisting on confidentiality. Hetherington contributed toward the buy, possibly? It’s due out in spring.
The social game MyWorld was nearing completion when Realtime Worlds entered into administration with 23 staff rehired to ensure the project finished as they looked to secure a buyer. RTW’s MMO APB is still looking for a suitor having cost over $100m to make.
Administrators Begbies Traynor has not commented on the claim that MyWorld’s buyer does or does not have ties with Ian Hetherington, the former Realtime Worlds boss. Payment should arrive shortly to ex-RTW staff still owed their salaries they say.
If Hetherington does indeed have ties to the mysterious US buyer then this all suddenly feels very dirty, as they likely got the project for a steal to what it actually cost to make. Is this why confidentiality has been so sought after?
MyWorld is due for release in srping 2011.
