They know it'll be "rough on a lot of you" to lose precious statistics to poke and brag over but the decision has been made, and it wasn't done "lightly".
"In an effort to provide the Halo Wars community a lively, active, and well-moderated set of forums for discussion, we are soon going to be transitioning the Halo Wars forums to Halo Waypoint's forums," posted the Halo Wars community caretakers.
"What this means is that the Halo Wars site will be taken offline and we will ask all of you, if you'd like to continue discussing the game, to do so over at the home for all things Halo, Halo Waypoint." A title update will also arrive for the RTS.
"There will be a fifth Title Update for Halo Wars. Unfortunately, it won't include many of the fixes that we all wanted it to include," admitted the moderator. The update will address Theater issues and "backend work" to disable connection to HaloWars.com.
This exodus to Halo Waypoint takes place December 15th and as an act of contrition, Microsoft will be awarding a "special avatar" to Halo Wars forum users for use on the Waypoint boards. Do you still play Halo's RTS spin-off?
Halo Wars released exclusively on Xbox 360 and was developed by long-time PC real-time strategy developer Ensemble Studios, and it was their last ever project.
