Yesterday, Capcom’s Christian Svensson raged on the official forums “I’m frustrated and upset by (the outage) for a number of reasons. As a consumer, I also play games online on PS3, which I can’t do… and likely my personal information is also compromised. Secondly I like to buy things in the PlayStation Store and that I can’t do right now.
“As an executive responsible for running a business, the resulting outage (is) obviously costing us hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars in revenue that were planned for within our budget. These are funds we rely on to bring new games to market for our fans.”
Svensson in an interview with Industry Gamers had a more moderate tone, saying, “Sony has been clear with its publishing partners on its activities and its desires to secure its platform. It’s been as transparent as it probably can be with us.” However, when Svensson was asked whether Sony would be compensating publishers for lost revenue, he had no comment.
Whether Sony has been “transparent” with its business partners or not, the main issue has been a lack of transparency with its customers, which Sony has apologized for and has laid out a selection of free games (to be announced) as compensation.
PlayStation Network remains down for the time being.
