According to Game Politics: “Our caretaker period begins on March 4, which is also the first day of the SCAG meeting,” Hatzistergos’s spokesperson told GameSpot AU. “However, the NSW attorney-general will not be attending the SCAG meeting. So he will not be able to participate in any voting that takes place on any of the issues discussed.”
The local interest group, R18 Games.com advises gamers in Australia to get active if they want to see a change, and to pressure their representative to bring the issue up and vote in favor of an R18+ rating.
“The best way anybody can help to bring about change in the classification system is to get involved. Under current legislation, any change to the Australian classification system requires unanimous support of all Australian Attorneys-General. Making contact with your Attorney-General and letting them know of your strong belief in the need for change is the single most effective way to bring about a fairer, safer ratings system for all of us.”
