It will ”enhance the search and discovery” of entertainment across Xbox Live, proclaims Microsoft’s Alex Garden. It will up ”speed and relevance” of search results as it gets integrated.
Beginning December 6th the new Xbox 360 dashboard goes live and introduces new apps for watching streamed TV, films, Internet clips, sports and music to over 20 countries.
Naturally a tech system that can scan in real-time and tag content to make searching easier, especially with Kinect’s voice control, is exceptionally appealing to Microsoft. ”VideoSurf’s content analytics technology will enhance the search and discovery of entertainment content across our platform,” said Xbox Live director, Alex Garden.
”This holiday we will launch voice search across our entertainment partners on Xbox Live. Over time, as we integrate VideoSurf’s technology into our system, we are excited about the potential to have content tagged in real time to increase the speed and relevance of the search results.”
Microsoft herald this as a ”new era in television” as they sign up media partners like the BBC, Lovefilm, Channel 4, HBO, Verizon and plenty more. Do you watch TV or films through a home console?
