It seems that a special edition of Gran Turismo 5 will be hitting retail on the 17th January, 2012 in North America. Online retailers like Amazon, Newegg, and Buy.com have listed a title named “Gran Turismo 5 XL” for the price of $39.99 USD.
Nothing is known about this special edition, but a GT5 Spec 2.0 disc update in Japan was a bundle that added all the software updates and available DLC for the racing title. It’s a good assumption that the XL edition of GT5 in North America will be the Western version of that title. No European version has been announced yet.
Gran Turismo 5 was released last year in November, and earned mixed reviews. Strategy Informer awarded the game a 6.0/10 score.
