Lead designer David Abzug said ”there are” other new IPs on the way but he ”don’t know” if he can discuss them - probably not. He’d love to go back to first-person.
Recent releases from Volition have been third-person titles, like Red Faction and Saints Row, but Armageddon’s lead designer Abzug ”would like to return” to the first-person shooter genre ”with another IP, yeah.” Could this new IP maybe answer his prayers?
”First-person and third-person are just two different ways of making it. There are things that first-person does better, there are things that third-person does better. Third-person gives you more situational awareness, first-person makes you feel more involved in the action.”
”Third-person lets you see your character more, first-person gives you a more claustrophobic view - it’s better for a military shooter,” continued Abzug. The next release from Volition is Red Faction: Armageddon, followed by Saints Row: The Third this fall.
The studio is also working on movie director Guillermo del Toro’s inSANE.
