While financially GAME isn’t feeling too well right now, the retailer is working individually with publishers to keep stock rolling in. Serious challenges lay ahead for the GAME group.
The lack of Resident Evil: Revelations last week wasn’t credit related but down to ”website errors” claimed GAME, speaking with MCV. The GAME website recently ‘lost’ all PC titles.
Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection, Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Soul Calibur V are all being handled by GAME via its usual processing methods, despite what the media is circulating, continued MCV. The retailer has been forced to work with publishers individually to resolve financial matters.
GAME also dismisses the rumour of staff wages going unpaid as completely untrue.
The retailer has admitted that they will struggle to meet their EBITDA covenant requirements by February 27th, which could severely worsen the GAME group’s future. It comes down to the retailer being able to convince partners that they’ll pull out of this tail-spin.
One anonymous publisher exec told MCV: ”No credit from the agencies means no stock for the stores. It’s going to get worse before it gets better. You won’t find a new release this Friday.” Stock will be available, affirm GAME.
