Pachter stated, “It’s an interesting move, and something I think gamers will like, but it’s odd to see it in a third-person game, and especially odd because it’s not a shooter. I think GoW fans will love it, but am not sure it will move the needle on sales.”
Other industry analysts are also doubtful of the feature’s efficacy, and some are frustrated by it. Developer Sony Santa Monica admitted they haven’t even figured out how it will be implemented. God of War: Ascension is a prequel to the main trilogy, and will be released on the PlayStation 3 in 2013.
