Their launch is just in time for the scheduled December 7th beta weekend, although they ”still expect some kinks” as stress-testing continues. CEO Mark Kern is confident of improvements and ”less lag”.
Registration for Firefall’s beta weekends are still open with the next scheduled to run December 7-9. These are ”48-hour stress-tests with thousands” of newbies logging in.
Red 5 also reveal some new open world content being brought online:
• Boss Encounters – Take on the powerful “Baneclaw” behind the Melding
• Chosen Warfront – Fight back the Chosen invasion before key areas are lost
• New Encounters – Rebuild crashed Thumpers, race LGVs, discover new areas and missions
Firefall is a free-to-play shooter MMO set in a sci-fi universe that’s two full centuries into the future. We play as the languishing remnants of mankind on Earth, struggling to survive a hostile world where an unknown humanoid race known as the Chosen threaten our existence. Cheeky devils.
It features both a ”polished PvP combat system tuned for elite-level eSports competition”, and a huge open world ”designed to immerse players in a deep storyline with dynamic events and social gameplay.” Check out the official website for Red 5 Studios’ Firefall to learn more and to sign up for the beta weekends.
