The report by FOX News states that law enforcement agents on two continents arrested three leaders of the group this morning, using information from former LulzSec leader Hector Xavier Monsegu (known as Sabu). Sabu had been working with the FBI since June.
According to an FBI agent, ”This is devastating to the organization. We’re chopping off the head of LulzSec.”
Sabu was arrested in June and elected to cooperate with the FBI by providing information that eventually led to today’s arrests. The leaders who were brought in by the FBI include Ryan Ackroyd (Kayla) and Jake Davis (Topiary) who are both based out of London, Darren Martyn (pwnsauce) and Donncha O’Cearrbhail (palladium), who are both based out of Ireland, and finally Jeremy Hammond (Anarchaos), who was based out of Chicago.
Sabu, an unemployed 28-year-old father of two based out of the East Village in New York City pleaded guilty on the 15th August to a dozen hacking charges including conspiracy to engage in computer hacking, computer hacking, conspiracy to commit access device fraud, conspiracy to commit bank fraud, and aggravated identity theft.
Further information will be released through official channels as it comes.
