Calvin Johnson, the superstar wide receiver of the Detroit Lions, will be the cover athlete for EA Sports’ football title Madden NFL 13, edging the Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton by a 52%-48% margin.
The final vote aired live on sports network ESPN, as Newton and Johnson campaigned one last time to be elected the winner.
Neither player seemed concerned with the dreaded Madden Curse; it’ll be interesting to see if Johnson escapes it.
