Valve faced a controversy when it began charging $100 to developers to put their games on Steam Greenlight. This was done as an answer to the numerous fake games and hoaxes that popped up when Greenlight was free. Naturally, indie developers were displeased.
The company has now added Steam Greenlight Concepts, which is a free version of Greenlight. The chief difference is that high-rated games won’t be published on Steam. Basically the service is to pitch ideas to gamers and see if it’s worth paying the $100 to post on Greenlight proper.
Gamers can check out the Concepts page here.
