Chair Entertainment are optimistic that a future instalment to Shadow Complex lies in the cards, with even the most rabid fans of the side-scroller unable to match their own hunger for more.
Shadow Complex exclusively launched on Xbox Live Arcade back in August of 2009. A sequel was teased by Epic's Cliff Bleszinski in September 2011, remarking it was "largely designed".
It seems however a follow-up never went past the design phase, with the now former Epic Games creative director adding they "just need to find a partner" for it.
Infinity Blade reportedly drew Chair Entertainment away from their Shadow Complex project, which was Epic's debut on iOS - it went on to be downloaded over 40 million times with a third title out next week.
"We certainly love Shadow Complex. As much as there are fans out there that want more Shadow Complex, I promise they don't want it more than we do," said creative director Donald Mustard. "We want it more than anyone. When the time is right, we sure hope to return to the Shadow Complex series."
Critics lauded Shadow Complex for its Super Metroid vibes, which blended high-octane shooting and action with exploration tied to unlocking new character abilities. Would Shadow Complex 2 be an Xbox One exclusive?
