The problem in Sony’s latest firmware update for PlayStation 3 has been isolated, with a fix to be implemented in v4.45 next week on Thursday. Some who had updated found their console ‘bricked’.
That’s the technical term for ‘transmuting electronic hardware into a common house brick’. June 27 should clear the problem up hopefully for the ”small number” of PS3s impacted.
Depending on how the fix is brought about, a set of instructions may need to be issued to reverse the ‘brickification’ (another tech term) of the consoles.
”We have identified the issue related to the PlayStation 3 software update (version 4.45) that impacted a small number of PS3 systems earlier this week. A new PS3 system software update is planned to be released on June 27 that resolves the issue,” Sony Europe told VideoGamer.com.
