South Park Studios has objected to South Park: The Stick of Truth's auction in THQ's 'going bust' sale, and has filed a motion to halt any deal going through.
According to a file found over on NeoGaf, THQ doesn't have the power to auction publishing rights, as South Park Studios are entitled to buy back the game's rights and sell them to another publisher from there. The contract, which was signed in 2011, suggests SPS can take responsibility for "all elements of the game and related products."
THQ says a clause "redacted from the public documentation" allows them to sell the game to whoever they want. Either way, this is a sticky mess for both companies.
