Finnish game developers Apex Games have started an Indiegogo campaign for their first ever title, first-person shooter Demon Core.
The goal is $180,000, which will go towards ”covering development costs and adding the features still lacking from the game”.
In a press release today CEO Mikko Karsisto said, “The goal of the campaign was put together by estimating the costs that are still to be covered. We concluded that we want to try and raise to full amount with a single campaign, instead of raising a smaller amount and then coming around again for a second round.”
The press release also detailed some of Apex Games’ plans for stretch goals and further content.
A number of stretch goals have been set for the campaign as well, including downloadable content in the long run and having a complete and thorough localization of the game in Russian, thanks to widespread buzz and interest in the said country.
Here’s a gameplay trailer released last month.
According to the Indiegogo site, Demon Core is a shooter that focuses on a solid story and smart AI enemies.
Demon Core features innovative gameplay elements, allowing you to:
· Perceive the enemy chain of command and see real-world tactics and team dynamics that you can affect by targeting the right man at the right time.
· Identify the distinctive personality of each individual enemy, defining his behavior in combat.
· Hide in the shadows and blend in with victims, even pretend to surrender. Take an edge in combat and defeat the enemy by using your wits.
· Use your own or gathered weapons to set up traps. Take control of the trap, create your strategy, implement it and take out the remaining few enemies while they are disorganized.
· Immerse yourself in the game using Microsoft Kinect and NaturalPoint TrackIR to detect your head movement and reproduce it in-game.
It’s estimated to be released in Q4 2014.
