Amy Hennig, former creative director on the Uncharted series, has joined Visceral Games to work on a new Star Wars title. Hennig will act as creative director on the upcoming game.
The news was revealed by Visceral general manager Steve Papoutsis in a post on EA.com. “I couldn’t be more excited to welcome Amy Hennig to our team at Visceral Games and EA as Creative Director on our Star Wars project,” said Papoutis. ”Amy has long been recognized as one of our industry’s top visionaries, and is coming off an amazing run as the Writer and Creative Director of the Uncharted franchise. But her contributions go beyond the games she helped create at Naughty Dog and at Crystal Dynamics, where we worked together many years ago.”
Hennig left Naughty Dog in March this year, sparking rumours that she was forced out. Naughty Dog co-Presidents Evan Wells and Christophe Balestra released a statement on the company’s website refuting those claims. ”Normally, we wouldn’t respond to rumors and speculation on matters that are internal to Naughty Dog,” read the post, ”but because the personal reputation of two of our employees is being damaged we needed to set the record straight. There is nothing left to be said on this subject.”
Hennig will bring her veteran knowledge of game design to work on Visceral’s foray into the sci-fi universe, of which she ”is a huge fan”. EA won the right to publish Star Wars games in May 2013, and have already revealed that developers Bioware and DICE are working on new Star Wars titles.
