Mortal Kombat 9 will “continue to run online” after the GameSpy server shutdowns this May 31, according to a tweet from series creator Ed Boon.

— Ed Boon (@noobde) May 7, 2014No details on exactly what Boon means by that, but good news for fans of the gory brawler. In other news, Boon seems to be dropping hints that he’s currently working on a new entry in the series for next-gen consoles.
Of course this could all mean nothing. We’ll keep an eye out for any further tidbits.
