The slow death of Games for Windows Live continues, with Fallout 3 now abandoning the service. In a Steam patch released yesterday several lines of code supporting GFWL were removed.
NeoGAF forum members first spotted the new patch changes, which remove the need for a registry key when booting up the game. It seems like the process is not quite complete, however, as BlueNews report that removing the GFWL client causes Fallout 3 to crash. The likelihood is that the recent patch is part of an ongoing process that will complete in the near future.
Fallout 3 wouldn't be the first to get rid of the unpopular service, with BioShock 2, the Batman Arkham series, and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 2 all removing support.
