Dovetail Games has announced Microsoft Flight Simulator X will be touching down onto Steam next week, with a special Steam Edition and a ”spectacular introductory price” to get your pilots license.
Additional content is teased to be in the works and due out next year. Dovetail says a licensing deal with Microsoft means the 2006 flight sim can be re-released, with something new in 2015.
Over 20 different aircraft will be available to fly, including helicopters, as well as over 80 missions to put them through their paces. Multiplayer has been integrated through Steam, reveals Dovetail, so there’s no need to stumble around with IPs and other such nonsense.
”We are thrilled to be exploring new flight simulation opportunities using Microsoft’s technology, and look forward to using our extensive expertise of Steam publishing to successfully bring Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition to a broad new audience on the Steam platform. This partnership is perfectly timed to support our expansion into new areas of simulation,” said Dovetail.
There are thousands of airports in Flight Simulator X, provided you can stick the landing. Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition releases on PC December 18th. It’s nice to see the series continue.
