Sector 3 Studios is the new entity for the Swedish developer, with 18 staff affected by the move, as they tried to ”keep as much of the talent” from SimBin as possible.
What of SimBin’s RaceRoom Racing Experience? It will continue on with Sector 3, and development hasn’t been impacted much, says Christopher Speed.
“I formed Sector 3 to first try and keep as much of the talent SimBin employed as possible,” he told Develop. ”I also believe in RaceRoom Racing Experience as a product and the surrounding commercial ventures that were spawning from it.” Sector 3 Studios will also eventually move to new office digs in Gothia Science Park in Skovde, Sweden, but for now they’ll stay where they are in Lidkoping ”until our 2014 commitments are delivered”.
SimBin specialised in simulation racing titles, and their new incarnation looks set to continue that. Their first commercial release was GTR - FIA GT Racing Game back in March 2005. They even published a third-party title; a turn-based strategy called Storm: Frontline Nation in mid-2011.
