Back in August Square Enix announced a new pre-order scheme for Eidos Montreal's upcoming Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, with no less than five separate tiers, the final being that the more people pre-ordered the game, the sooner it would ship.
Unsurprisingly, this basically didn't go down well with anyone. It turns out people don't much like the feeling that a publisher is holding a game's release date back unless they pay up. Fortunately, Square Enix has listened to the negative feedback, and decided to scrap the plan.
Over on the game's official website (which feels horrible to navigate, by the way, or is that just me?) Square says that upon reflection it's decided to offer pre-order customers all the listed content from the start, apart from the four-day early release. The game will ship for everyone on February 23, 2016.
If you've already pre-ordered, the new plan will be applied retroactively. I think we can all agree that this silly scheme going the way of the dodo is a good thing for everyone.
